Congratulations to Nia Dulong!
1. How would winning this scholarship affect your skating? What would you do with the money? Since Coronavirus my mom hasn’t been working so paying for skating has been a little harder for my mom and dad. I would use the scholarship money to pay for more skating lessons and to pay for competitions or new skates.
2. List the things for which you’ve volunteered and what you did.
I volunteer to clean up rivers and parks in my area. I donate to holiday gift drives and have volunteered my time playing music at local charity events.
3. How long have you been skating? How old were you when you started? I started skating when I was 6 years old. I had my 6th birthday party at the skating rink and fell in love with it right then. I’ve been skating for 3 years now.
4. What are you the most proud of in your skating?
I am most proud that I get to learn cool moves on the ice and that I have awesomecoaches who are encouraging and that I have great skating friends.
5. What is the BEST thing about school/job? The best thing about school is that I have great teachers. They are all friendly and thoughtful and help me learn interesting things. My favorite subject is literacy because I love to read and write. I love reading because I learn about things I don’t know about yet.
6. What do you think you have done to help Alpine Skating Club? (For example, volunteered at events, helped other club members by cheering for them at competitions, etc.) I love cheering for other skaters at competitions and also just during practice. It makes me feel good to know I am encouraging other skaters and helping them feel good. I also always try to have a good attitude on the ice and I think that is helpful for other skaters.
7. Tell us anything else that you’d like us to know about you! I am 9 years old. I love the colors lime green and dark blue. I like all sports but after figure skating my next favorites are basketball and hockey. I go to Polaris Elementary School in Denver, Colorado and when I grow up I want to be a candy taste-tester.
Thank you for reading this and considering me for this scholarship.
